Knowledge is power

The British philosopher Francis Bacon (1561-1626) did say long ago that knowledge is power, and he has been quoted ever since. Too many in our time have reasoned: Without power, effective action and glory is impossible in any domain. Therefore, power should be acquired and maintained; thus, as its basis, knowledge should be acquired and hoarded. This reasoning has in my opinion led business people, politicians and even physicians to withhold truth from people who desperatly need it for their own good and the good of society as a whole.

I totally agree with you, Kamouraska. And it is so well said: "[...it]led business people, politicians and even physicians to withhold truth from people who desperatly need it for their own good and the good of society as a whole".

Thank you.
