Today walking on Sunset Boulevard I came across the head office of The Citizens Commission on Human Rights. The Citizens Commission on Human Rights (CCHR) is a non-profit, public benefit organization dedicated to investigating and exposing psychiatric violations of human rights. It also ensures that criminal acts within the psychiatric industry are reported to the proper authorities and acted upon. Speaking with the guide at the museum I found out that they receive funds from the Church of Scientology. So next week I will inquire about this organization at my university because what they had to say was interesting.
They are now sponsoring an exhibition entitled “ Psychiatry an industry of death” which I visited. The exhibition is a denunciation of psychiatry and it’s practices through history. While sometimes exaggerating on some level they have captured the essence of the ethical problems we are now facing regarding the use of mood altering drugs in the treatment of, for example, children (ADD).
They are supposed to have an office in Montreal. This is interesting for me since I did my research this last semester on the use of mood altering drugs: “Ethical reflection upon the use of SSRI’s in adolescence in relation to the construction of a healthy identity.” If you want to read my research send me an email.
