Joshua Tree Park

The Joshua Tree National Park is 140 miles east of Los Angeles. Two large desert ecosystems mostly determined by elevation come together at Joshua Tree. Below 3,000 feet, the Colorado desert occupies the park's eastern half. Higher, more moist, slightly cooler, the Mojave Desert hosts its signature plant-and ecological cornerstone- the Joshua Tree.
